This case, about the only case for colorado, is rugged and protects the unit from dirt, and the environment.
The rugged outside protects your investment and can take some abuse. With the lid design you never have to worry about losing the lid or it being in the way. I would highly recommend this simple case design. I purchased the Garmin hard case with the intentions of buying a case that not only traveled well but stored my Garmin Colorado safely when not in use. It has lived up to both of my expectations. I use this case while kayaking and while hiking.
It will hold only the unit and has no space for the carabiner that comes with the Colorado. My only complaint is size. Minor points so I still recommend the case. Very good carrying case for the Colorado GPS. It gives good protection for the unit and is easy to use. It would be nice to have a slot or two to store regional microSD cards, too.
I would really like it to be air tight to keep sand out, it has a gap in the seem that will let in dirt and water. I like this item, it provides good protection from bumping your gps into things. Not good for Iraq.
So there's nothing preventing dirt, water, etc, from going right into the sides of the case. I mistakingly thought it also zipped around the edges). I returned mine, and certainly would not recommend this case to anyone. Other than acting as a hard case to prevent bumps to your GPS, this case offers no additional protection to a very expensive investment. I expected the case to seal around the edges, but it does not (the only thing keeping the case closed is that little clip in the picture. I use my GPS for fieldwork, and this case definitely wouldn't cut it.
